What religious beliefs did the ottoman empire follow?
The Ottoman Empire religious beliefs were Islamic. However they were uniquely tolerant of other religions like Christians and Jews. According to Islamic law, the most important and basic duty of a Muslim ruler was to maintain Islamic law throughout the empire. They payed the price for the ability to follow their own beliefs with tolerance from Muslim Turks in the form of a tax.
